Day 1 – Arrival in Antananarivo - Visit of the city of thousands
On the program of the first day of your wonders of the Vezo country tour: your arrival at the international airport of Ivato, welcome by our driver guide and installation in your hotel. After lunch, you will be accompanied by your guide to make a tour of the city, visit the famous places of the capital including the upper town where the famous Queen’s palace is built. You will then go down to Antaninarenina, one of the chic districts of the capital, passing by the presidential palace of Ambohitsorohitra before reaching the tomb of Rainiharo (Prime Minister at the time of Queen Ranavalona I) at Isoraka.
The visit of the day will end in the district of Analakely, the old big market of the zoma (Friday) and the avenue of the independence. In the evening, your guide will install you in your hotel.
Day 2 – Departure for Toliara (internal flight) - Visit of the city
The next day, one of our guides will take care of your transfer to Ivato airport for a domestic flight to Toliara, capital of the Atsimo-Andrefana region. After about one hour of flight, you will be welcomed in Toliara by your main guide who will have accompanied you during your wonders of the Vezo country tour.
After lunch, you will visit the city of Toliara with its unmissable places such as the arboretum of Antsokay, the Institute of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, the Museum of Arts and Mahafaly culture… Toliara or the city of the sun can be considered as the crossroads of many circuits if we only quote the baobab coast tour, the Tsiribihina river tour… In the evening, you can relax in one of the bars of the city, savor the local gastronomy before joining your hotel.
Day 3 – Turtle Village – Bevoay
In the morning of the third day of your wonders of the vezo country tour, you will go to Mangily-Ifaty, in the village of the turtles 30 km north of the city of Toliara. This park is located next to the track that leads to Morombe near the beautiful lagoon of Ifaty and is one of the sites not to be missed during the deep south tour. The site shelters an exceptional biotope composed of baobab, octopus trees, thorny shrubs…, infrastructures intended to preserve the species of turtles, a true clinic of turtles including housing of quarantines, hatchery and nurseries.
After the turtle village, head for Bevoay (many crocodiles), about thirty kilometers north of Toliara, on the bank of the Mangoky River. You will have the opportunity to see some species and to taste their meat prepared by the inhabitants. In Bevoay, enjoy the panoramic landscape of the baobab forest and rice fields on the way to Morombe as well as the forest of Ampanonga and the giant baobab Adansonia grandidieri.
Day 4 – Lake Ihotry – Andombiry
For the 4th day of your wonders of the vezo country tour, your guide will lead you towards the salt lake of Ihotry between Toliara and Morombe. Being a favorite place of the migratory birds as the pink flamingos, ibis, cormorants, the lake Ihotry constitutes an ideal study ground for the ornithologists. If you are a bird lover, this is the place to be for birdwatching.
Your wonders of the vezo country tour continues then towards Andombiry where you will meet various species of giant baobabs: the Tsitakakoike (if one shouts, one does not hear it in the other face of the baobab), the Tsitakakantsa (if one sings, one does not hear it in the other face) as well as the Lavatana (a baobab with long branch). Thanks to their enormous size, the baobabs of Andombiry constitute a considerable tourist asset for the district of Morombe. Note that Tsitakakoike measures nearly 28 meters in circumference and nearly 29 meters for Tsitakakantsa.
Day 5 – Nosy Lava (Morombe) – Nosy Be (Morombe)
During your visit to Nosy Lava Island (Long Island) north of Timpoy, you will see the lighthouse at the tip of the island. During your visit, meet the Vezo fishermen, visit their villages to know their way of life and enjoy their wonderful country. Nosy Lava is one of the islets close to Morombe that you can visit by ferry or by traditional Vezo canoe during a Madagascar tour accompanied by a small group like this one.
After Nosy Lava, you will go to Nosy Be in the northwest of Morombe bay before reaching your hotel in Morombe.
Day 6 – Andavadaoka – Mikea Lodge et return to Toliara
For the 6th day of your wonders of the vezo country tour, your tourist guide will take you to Andavadoaka which means pierced rock located in the open sea. Andavadaoka is also among the places of passage of the wonders of the Big Island tour which is characterized by the presence of a long coral barrier and islets forming a very rich marine ecosystem, favorable to the scuba diving. Enjoy its beautiful lagoons and protected coves to relax.
In the afternoon, your guide will take you to the Mikea National Park to meet the Mikea, the last hunter-gatherer people of Madagascar who live exclusively from the forest. Not far from the Mikea lodge, you will be surprised by the beauty of the landscape, the fine sandy beach and the lagoon which is one of the most beautiful in Madagascar. If you have enough time, you can practice many activities such as whale and dolphin watching between June and September, sea kayaking, deep sea fishing, jet ski… or choose to take a cruise in a vezo canoe. Towards the end of the afternoon, you will return to Toliara to spend the night before joining the capital the next day.
Day 7 – Departure from Toliara by plane to Antananarivo
At the end of your stay in Madagascar within the framework of the wonders of the vezo country tour, your driver-guide will take care of your transfer to the airport of Toliara to join the capital by domestic flight. Don’t forget to buy some handicrafts that represent the wonders of the Vezo country and the Malagasy south and as a souvenir of your stay in the dream island.
If your arrival at Ivato International Airport coincides with the departure of your flight back to your country of origin, your guide will take care of your transfer. Otherwise, you will be installed in your hotel before the departure closer.
