Iconic Sites of Mitsio

Grande Mitsio (Nosy Mitsio)

The only inhabited island in the archipelago, Grande Mitsio remains scarcely developed and home to a few fishing villages. The population lives mainly from rice farming and fishing.
The island offers white sandy beaches with crystal-clear waters and a unique geological phenomenon: on its southern tip, impressive basalt columns rise like long organ pipes. These Organ Pipes exceed 20 m in height and were formed by volcanic eruptions more than 100 million years ago.

The Four Brothers
